Iranians Arrested for ‘Happy’ Video Freed

Everybody who is anybody in Iran knows the Tehran Police Chief Hossein Sajedinia is a fan of Pharrell Williams.  “Happy” is the policeman’s iPhone ringtone.

Sajedinia is a musical prodigy of sorts. Sajedinia is well known for his love of Verdi and Kanye West, as well. So, when he arrested the young insurgents — three men and three women — for what he considered regicide of Pharrell’s music, no one was surprised. Some unsettling feelings were caused by his news conference where he asserted, falsely so, that the 6 untalented young people

helped make an “obscene video clip that offended the public morals and was released in cyberspace,” as the Iranian Students’ News Agency reported.

In truth, they were arrested for their lack of talent. But when the Police Chief received a phone call from Pharrell Williams himself, then, his sadness and anger melted right away and he was heard saying:

What the fuck, let’s all be happy.

And he freed all political detainees. Those arrested yesterday, that is.
