Toni Morrison might not have taught us all that even caged birds desire and eventually learn to sing: there is nothing else for them to do.
But a bird that stalks
Maya Angelou. Caged Bird
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
But Toni Morrison did teach us why we need dignity to be able to love and be loved.
She too, helped us find out how to yearn to define our quest for meaning.
