The Tea Party — or as we call it here the TeePee – is causing an earthquake of sorts in our society and the only losing side is not the filthy rich but our common-sense and decency. At first the show was interesting because TeePee scared off Wall Street.
After pouring money in D.C.– not a lot; just enough to pimp all people in Congress – Wall Street discovered that it could not buy any TeePee members. For a moment the Democrats were sure that they would become the winning party for as long as Wall Street was interested in buying politicians.
However, that dream might have died out today. After the recent TeePee display of KKK ideology, the Bush Republicans might want to detangle themselves from TeePee and beg Wall Street to continue pimping them. As no Congressional Republican disavowed today’s events, the Democrats might still become the favorite Congressional betting horse for Wall Street:
A few hours ago, Tea Party protestors waved the Confederate flag at White House, chanting “Obama put the Quran down, and get out of town.”
In our J.M Barrie democracy, where all we have is form, such display of bad form would have made even Jesse Helms cringe: the long-dead rabid racist used a 16-day filibuster, to stop the Senate from approving a federal holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. But he did not show up in Congress dressed up in a confederate camouflage suit.
Dear Tea Party members, it’s time to decide who’s the cause of your unhappiness by paying attention to reality not to ideology. Even if all it takes is a free pizza to get your circus, still someone has to pay for it.
