Ryan defends Trump on Comey: ‘The president’s new at being scrutinized for criminal behavior

Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday defended President Donald Trump’s communications with ex-FBI director James Comey, saying Trump wasn’t “steeped in the long-running protocols” of how to interact with law enforcement.

“The president’s new at this,” Ryan said at a news conference. “He’s new at government. The President just started being someone’s puppet. I, on the other hand, I’ve been a puppet all my life, but you don’t see my handlers. I’m that skilled.”

The Wisconsin Republican also expressed sympathy for Trump’s frustration with the Russia investigation, noting that Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee that Trump was not the subject of the probe.

“I think the American people now know why he was frustrated. We got it, Trump is a dupe, but so am I and no one keeps bothering me night and day day and night. Can’t we stop this nonsense and let Trump build his hotels wherever the heck he wants? And by the way, let’s all buy Ivanka’s cloths and jewelry and especially her line of shoes made by all those little tiny Chinese hands.”

I guess, all TPV can say is God Save America and the rest of us.
