TheWeekholeView – Tina, the Last Temptation of the Chinese CP

Here, each hole starts on Wednesdays and this is what fell through this past week:
On Wednesday, July 31, Tina Brown finally heard that famed Chinese woman, Wendi Deng, would get billions from the Murdochs to spare on failed media outlets. Tina sent Wendi her business card.

On Thursday, August 1, Tina shed two tears in memory of her billionaire friend, Sidney Harmon, who learned how to spell “rosebud” much too early for her career to rebound.

Harmon was “delicious” especially when he called me “his little princess.” Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/the-wrong-billionaire-died-why-tina-browns-newsweek-failed-2013-8#ixzz2b6hHYiUK

Wendi did not return Tina’s SMS.

On Friday, August 2, Tina refused to visit some West Egg based billionaire for fear they would die on her, too.

On Saturday, August 3, Tina watched old clips, such as

On Sunday, August 4, Tina realized that her career matches that of the Chinese Communist Party: they keep reinventing themselves in the same mold – ambition for the sake of it.

On Monday, August 5, some good news for The Daily Beast surfaced when The Wall Street Journal published Liyan Qi’s take on China’s consideration to stop the ban on one-child policy. If the Chinese are unsure about what’s in their best interest, why should Tina be otherwise?

On Tuesday, August 6, both the Chinese and Tina heard that whimsical Donald Graham sold his mom’s newspaper to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. Jeff promised to publish everything fit to bring in profits, whether it is news news or made-up news. Two-kid Chinese families does not constitute news for Jeff so, here you have it from TPV.

I thank God Mom is dead,” Donald said when asked why. This is all about the money I can make and nothing else. Then, the not-so-young-man added, “Tina would understand me best.”

  1. I had to look a bunch of people up, but I think I mostly got it.

I’ve got some newspaper experience on my CV: as a young man I managed assembly and distribution of several local publications, very hands on…, could you send Wendi my card too? I’m willing to start small, for less than a million, I could run a Zine into the ground for her.
