TheWeekholeView Stands with Carola Rakete

Alone and lonely among the stars of news, whatever and fake, TPV makes it its business to keep track of the weekholeview of things. And here’s what we rescued from falling through the hole within the last seven days:

On Tuesday, Ivanka started taking French classes in preparation for her dad’s spontaneous meeting with the North Korean leader, organized to follow the G20 prop meeting. Impressively, Ivanka mastered the hand gesticulation right away.

Democratic excellence

On Wednesday, in Miami, the first part of the two-evening coverage of the Democratic primaries debate took place. It was riveting, intellectually informative and progressive. Sen. Elizabeth Warren articulated her positions with clarity, confidence and ease, and so did Secretary Julián Castro and Sen. Cory Booker, as well as NYC Mayor, Bill de Blasio. There were no personal insults. No name calling. No juvenile antics. It was a breath of fresh air. A record of 16 million viewers watched it. The gift of Trump: high TV ratings.

Who’s Waldo?

On Thursday, during the second night of the first Democratic primary debates, Joe Biden, the veep to Obama’s presidency, acknowledged his predisposition for efficiency. As a senator he often reached out across the aisle to the opposition. In recognition of his own achievements, during the televised debate, Biden stopped shooting himself in the foot aiming for the opposed other end of his body: his empty head.

On Friday, Don Trump attended the G20 meeting in Osaka and admonished Vladimir Putin about meddling into the 2016 presidential election.

Vlad, don’t get caught meddling in 2020. Let’s make it look spontaneous. Yours, Don

On Saturday, Don tweeted Kim Jong-un “Shall I stop for a photo-op by DMZ?” Don made it look a whimsical pre-Nobel Prize hand-shake, while whispering: “Next year in Washington, as Jared would say.”

On Sunday, Donatella Versace

marched in the NYC Gay Pride apologizing for her government’s mistreatment of Carola Rakete, the 31-year old Dutch captain who entered the port of Lampedusa with Sea-Watch 3, a boat of rescued Libyan refugees, despite not receiving Salvini’s permission.

Carola la brava

“The Italian Prim-Minister Salvini was a fool for not allowing Carola to dock. She did it anyway, didn’t she? “
