NYTimes: Eye on 2016, Clintons Rebuild Bond With Blacks

Five years after remarks by Bill Clinton about Barack Obama strained the Clintons’ bond with African-Americans, the former first family is setting out to ensure that there is no replay of such trouble in 2016. Hillary took the lead at a Harlem rally by praising male Afro American “manhood” as she put it, insisting,

if I weren’t white, I would choose to be black.

Chasing votes with one black-oriented aphorism after another, she asserted,

I’m told once you go black, you never go back.

To the embarrassed hush that followed, she said,

What? What?

“You know who told me that?” she asked.

A murmur traveled through the almost all-black audience. Hillary yelled,

Bill! Bill told me!

Either out of intolerable unease, or genuine  enthusiasm, the crowd cheered and started to clap. Hillary seized the moment, saying,

And he should know!

The crowd quieted as she stared off to one side for what seemed like an endless time. “You know,” she said, in barely a whisper. The crowd became serious.

I’ve been asked dozens of times why I stayed with that bastard  philandering husband of mine. But I think I can tell you and you’ll understand. Once Bill’s in your sack,  you’ll never go back.

The crowd started chanting her words. Hillary raised her hands above her head, holding them about two feet apart, shouting over the crowd’s chant,

“This is why I never left,” she said, rolling and thrusting her hips suggestively to leave no doubt.

The crowd seemed all hers, although most were chanting differently now,

We want Bill. We want Bill!

  1. Sam, you got it right. She stayed with Bill because he’s tall. Even while lying in bed. And we know Bill is always lying in bed.

  2. The pothole reminded me of a story from the Clinton presidency.

Bill and Hill were back in Arkansas and stopped at a local gas station. Hillary goes to use the rest room. The car is filled and Bill realizes it’s taking an awfully long time, when he sees Hillary come around the corner with her arm around the shoulder of a guy from the station. They stop a distance from the car and give each other a hug and gentle kiss.

    Who was that? Asks Bill.

Tommy Bottom, he and I were pretty serious in high school, before I met you.

Bill smiles, think of how it might have worked out if you hadn’t met me.

Yeah, I’d be first lady Rodham Bottom and you and me’d be hooking up in the grease pit at the gas station.

  3. I know Hillary isn’t just a “woman candidate,” she’s someone we can ALL feel uneasy about

  4. Unrelated to anything, but Hungry for Hillary somehow, perversely reminded me of one of my favorite T Shirts ever – from a pride march years ago

A woman was wearing a shirt: Vagatarian

    America, are you hungry enough.

  5. Are you talking about Ready for Hillary 2016 – Facebook campaign sponsored by the Nation? Funny. I used to read that magazine once.

  6. Yeah: Are you hungry enough for Hillary? Do you have what it takes to be Hillary’s friend?
