At a lunch with the national soccer team, Mr. Hollande took the opportunity to express his unshakeable support for the French team at the upcoming World Cup.
“France is not a favorite? Rhetorically asks the French President, Francois Hollande.
“Nothing is impossible for the Blues (the name of the French soccer team). They can succeed. No challenge should be foreign to us.”
After the slap posed by municipal and European elections, unemployment at its peak and a popularity level not much higher than a well-tended lawn, François Hollande knows better than anyone what that “outsider” message means. But, to clarify it for the rest of us, he adds:
“The French should be proud of their country,” he continued. “We are the number one producer of excellent cheese, and excellent wine. Champagne means France for most of the world, especially those who can pay for it and know better than drinking cheap Prosecco.
