Home Americanism Michelle Does China. Successfully.

Michelle Does China. Successfully.

In a tremendous tour de force, the First Minority Lady promoted both free speech and government involvement in people’s lives.

Michelle Obama’s week-long trip to China was a success whose apex was her speech at the Stanford Center of Peking University. There the First Lady was video-recorded saying:

“Many decades ago, there were actual laws in America. They allowed for discrimination. If you were black like me, your conversations were very likely listened to by white “so-called” bystanders. But over time, ordinary citizens decided that those laws were unfair. So, they held peaceful protests and marches, and today, 50 years later, my husband and I are president and First Lady of the United States.”

Chinese students, known for their logic did not understand the First Lady’s speech immediately, but after an edited translation they did and started applauding. One even asked:

“How did the discrimination laws change?”

The First Lady explained:

“Now, there are multi racial bystanders listening to everybody’s conversation.”

At this point the Chinese audience became even more confused. Another edited translation followed. No rapturous applause was heard, except from the translators’ quarter.

The First Lady continued:

“Now let’s focus on excellent education. It should be for all, not just for the rich.”

A Chinese law school student asked:

“China and Cuba with their centralized funding and standards for what constitutes “good education” are ahead of the United States. Did your visit here has anything to do with learning how to implement excellent education for all in the United States?”

Silence. Long silence in the translators’ quarter.

“I wish.” a sad First Lady said. “But Barack gave me one idea to work on: dieting. That’s all I am allowed to do, and I’ll stick to it.”

Rapturous applause followed. according to the NSA recording TPV just received by FedEx. According to the annotations we received that was a sign of the patriarchal Chinese society, so far behind ours.
