TheWeekholeview – Snowden’s Flight over a Cuckoo’s Nest

Here, each hole starts on Wednesdays and this is what fell through this past week:

On Wednesday, June 19, NBC news added its voice to those of The New York Times and Washington Post in mislabeling Snowden’s action as a “security leak,” instead of a leak into the Obama’s administration constitutional violations.

On Thursday, June 20, American journalists continued to be baffled by Snowden’s heroic acts in an age where mediocrity with money passes for intelligence.

On Friday, June 21, over pizza and chicken wings with his lawyers – celebrating his 30th birthday – Snowden agreed his two-week stay in Hong Kong was coming to an end. He would flee, and seek protection from the U.S. justice system elsewhere. He bought a plane ticket for Saturday night. During this time Eric Holder contacted Julian Asange’s accusers to see if they were ready to seek Holder’s help to charge Snowden with multiple counts of e-rape.

On Saturday, June 22, FBI’s director convened with Eric Holder and decided that child pornography and drug pushing charges would be more suited for such a follower of Benjamin Franklin like Snowden. For the benefit of the New York Times journalists, Snowden often quotes Franklin’s mantra:
“Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”

On Sunday, June 23, Snowden had a breakfast of pancakes and flew out of Hong Kong, bound for Moscow. In doing so, he kicked off a global pursuit that continued to unfold, with as many twists and turns as a spy novel, and forced the New York Times’ journalists to check their cold war rolodex to see if they can call someone who remembered whether Russia is a country or a bear.

On Monday, June 24, Snowden purchased a ticket for a flight from Moscow to Cuba, but someone else occupied his seat, a New York Times journalist emailed.

On Tuesday, June 25, Snowden was expected to arrive in Iceland via Finland. If those rumors  hold any truth, Obama is expected to interrupt his summer vacation in Martha’s Vineyard for a short visit to Reykjavik to shake the hand of the man who singlehandedly pointed out the US president is just a hot air balloon.
