TPV accompanied President Barack Obama on Tuesday night for a farewell speech. We were bound up in convictions about enduring American ideals and a plan for moving toward more change- forward or backwards? That became the question.

“Tonight it’s time for me to say thanks,” TPV told the cheering crowd of supporters. “You made us a better zine. What am I saying? You made us feel manly.”

Then, TPV recounted some of our successes in the last 8 years.

We reached your hearts and souls and everything else, and gave you what might have seemed unbelievable moments.

Of course, we had dark moments, too, and when we were hacked a few months ago, and we had to pay an extra $900 to what is already an extravagant amount of server space money, we had to learn how to breathe and reconsider whether we want to go on. And then we heard President Obama’s words:

Often in life for every two steps forward, we take one step back. The idea is to avoid taking three steps back, because then we will only go backwards, and few men remain men doing it.

Well said, Mr. President.

Thank you fandom. Thank you.
