Optimistically, presidential candidate Hillary spent an entire hour memorizing her new goal, if elected, to produce 33 percent of the nation’s electricity from renewable sources by 2027, up from 7 percent today — a higher goal than the 20 percent that President Obama has called for by 2030.
Sen. Bernie Sanders sees a big gaping hole in Hillary Clinton’s newly released climate-change proposals: the Keystone pipeline.
“It is hard for me to understand how one can be concerned about climate change but not vigorously oppose the Keystone pipeline,” Sanders, who is challenging Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, said in a statement released on Tuesday.
The statement came in response to Clinton being asked during a town-hall event in New Hampshire about her thoughts on the pipeline. Clinton demurred when asked.
“This is President Obama’s decision and I’m not going to second-guess him because I started the process,” Clinton said candidly, and then added, “also I will not challenge any of the promises Bill and I made to the coal industry or to the Saudis and other oil producers, because if people learned something about the Clintons is that our 100% are more inclusive than anybody else’s.
