Guess Who Loves Their Andy? Mother MoMA and Dad Uniqlo

Andy Warhol was not a pretty face. Or what you’d call a pretty face. He was rather ugly looking.

He did some modeling, though. Usually for wigs. Blond wigs.

He also had an unusual sense of beauty. He saw beauty everywhere. Which  may be why, MoMA, the American Museum of Modern Art, located in New York, a cool place, decided to make some money out of Andy’s estate. Of course, MoMA is not alone. Uniqlo, a Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer, is a partner, and we are sure this is just a minor aspect of the many who make money out of Andy’s estate (he did pass away).

Now, this is all good and interesting. My problem was this.Ugly

Why her? Who is this remarkable not-a-model woman who looks very much like Andy?

Why is she posing with that  tote on MoMA’s  little poster you find at your table when you go to have a bite to eat at the museum’s cafeteria?

Is this Uniqlo’s way of saying: I want to keep the totes. I do not want to actually sell them, unless. Unless what?

You really want to know what? Unless you really promise Uniqlo you’ll use that tote to do small things. Like what? Like carrying cans of Campbell Soup around the City.

  1. The woman in the Tote ad looks familiar, you know, I saw Andy Warhol on the street once, maybe that’s it!

If they put a handle on that tote it would be handy for carrying stuff…
