Pregnant, and Forced to Stay on Life Support by Marquel, TPVs Times correspondent

A pregnant woman is forced to keep on being pregnant despite her dwindling will power. In fact, she is brain dead. Neverthless, the former woman must undergo full panoply of medical procedures “as long as she is breathing” says hospital.

A Fort Worth  hospital claims the law requires they treat a 33 year old woman as a person as long as she is breathing, which she will do as long as they have her connected to their machines. As a result, the patient will deliver her baby without her consent or that of her family who point out that since she stopped breathing for several minutes, the baby will eventually be born in an essentially vegetative state.

If so, says the hospital, they will treat the baby too for its entire life. As long as they can keep it breathing mechanically. Right now they are concentrating on the mother. They have performed an appendectomy “just to be safe” and admitted, after repeated questioning, “for the fun of it.” They have also performed a tonsillectomy for more legitimate medical reasons.

“Tonsillectomies are performed more rarely these days,” said a hospital spokesperson, “so it’s good to stay in practice.”

The hospital has long term plans for the woman. A team of plastic surgeons has made preparations for

a total makeover. Her nose isn’t really centered, she has several wrinkles near her eyes and her ears are, well, a bit shriveled.

TPV asked whether that might be because she’s actually dead.

Anything’s possible in medicine. We do what we can. In this case that’s almost everything. Correction, everything.

The hospital also performed two breast reduction procedures, “because she looked a little top heavy.”

Dermatologists have had a field day with the pregnant body, removing over a dozen moles and an equal number of dysplastic nevi.

When asked why by TPV, a dermatologist explained, “Any one of them could turn cancerous, especially if she goes out in the sun.”

But she’s brain dead, noted TPV.

She’s pregnant. Women have a way of changing their minds once they hold the baby in their arms.

Their dead arms? Asked TPV.

The dermatologist sputtered in frustration, “What do you want from us? We’re just doctors, not miracle workers.”

  1. yeah. don’t blame the doctors – it’s lack of will power that gets them in that delicate condition in the first place.
